What are the four basic elements of a good web design?

A simple set of four: layout (structure and spacing), typography (readability and hierarchy), color (contrast and brand), and content (the actual message and proof). You can have great visuals, but if typography is weak or the content is unclear, the site will not convert. Most “bad design” is actually missing hierarchy: the page does not tell the user what matters first, second, and third.
